John Jacob (“J.J.”) Bausch set up a tiny optical goods shop in Rochester, NY in 1853. When he needed more money to keep the business going, J.J. borrowed $60 from his good friend, Henry Lomb. With a handshake, J.J. promised that if the business grew, Lomb would be made a full partner. Since that time, Bausch + Lomb has long been associated with some of the most significant advances in eye health. Today, the company is a worldwide corporation, offering eye care professionals and patients products that are available in more than 100 countries.
